What the Kling API is, who built Kling, and where this site fits.
Kling AI is a video generation model family developed by Kuaishou, and the Kling API is the programmatic way to reach those models. You send a text prompt or reference image with a few parameters, receive a task id, poll that task, and download the finished clip when it is ready. No. This is an independent guide to the Kling API, not affiliated with Kling AI or Kuaishou in any way. We document the model line, compare it with rival tools, and host a free frame generator that runs on our own image model. We do not resell Kling access and we do not issue API keys.
Kling is developed by Kuaishou, the Chinese short-video company. The Kling model line has moved quickly — from the 2.0 baseline through 2.1, 2.5 Turbo and 2.6, then the unified O1 model and the 3.0 series with its smart storyboard and native audio work.
Kling publishes a free tier alongside paid access, and third-party resellers set their own terms, so the honest answer is that it depends on whose endpoint you call. Check the vendor before you build against it. The generator on this site is genuinely free and needs no account, because it is our own tool rather than a Kling AI endpoint.
No. There is no signup, no login and no credit balance anywhere on this site. Every page — the model documentation, the comparisons, the tutorials and the free generator — is open to read and use as-is.
Models & Capabilities
Kling versions, durations, ratios, audio, and the differences that actually change your output.
Seven versions are documented here: Kling Video 3.0, 3.0 Omni, O1, 2.6, 2.5 Turbo, 2.1 and 2.0. Each Kling version has its own page with durations, ratios, audio support and prompt notes.
Kling 3.0 introduced the smart storyboard system, 15-second generation and audio-visual sync in one pass. 3.0 Omni pushes subject consistency further and adds video character subjects plus custom per-shot storyboards. O1 is the unified multimodal model and remains the strongest at multi-reference composition. If you need one shot to hold a face, reach for Omni.
Durations run from 3 to 15 seconds: the 3.0 series reaches 15s, while earlier versions cap at 10s. Ratios include 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1 natively, with 4:3, 3:4, 3:2, 2:3 and 21:9 also documented. Pick the ratio before you write the Kling prompt — a shot composed for landscape rarely survives a crop to vertical.
Yes on Kling 2.6 and the 3.0 series. Voice, dialogue, singing, sound effects and ambience are produced in the same pass as the picture, so lip movement and speech line up without a separate sync step. Older Kling versions render silent video and expect you to add sound afterwards.
720p and 1080p are the documented Kling options, with 1080p the published ceiling across the current line. There is no 4K path today, so plan any upscaling as a separate post-process rather than expecting it from the model.
Use text to video when the shot does not exist yet and you want the model to invent the whole frame. Use image to video when the look is already locked — a product photo, a character render, a screenshot — and you only need motion. Generating a key frame first, as the tool on this site does, gives you the second option on demand.
Using the Free Generator

Two things, and they are honestly different. Step one is real: your prompt goes to our own image model, not to Kling, and a genuine key frame comes back which you can keep. Step two, Animate it, is a guided preview — a staged progress bar and a canned sample clip that illustrate what the animation stage looks like. No Kling AI model is called at any point.
The generator is open to everyone with no account, which makes it an easy target for automated abuse. A lightweight challenge runs before the request so real visitors keep fast, free access. It usually passes invisibly and never asks you for personal information.
Yes. Frames you generate here are yours — we apply no watermark and claim no rights over them. Right-click or long-press the image to save it. If you plan to publish commercially, still apply your own judgement about trademarks and likenesses that may appear in a generated frame.
The three usual causes are a prompt shorter than a few words, a verification challenge that expired while the tab sat idle, or a temporary queue backlog. Reload the page, write at least one full sentence describing the shot, and try again. Persistent failures on every prompt normally mean a network or extension issue on your side.
Name a subject, an action, a camera position, a light source and a style, in that order. A cat produces a shrug; a ginger cat on a windowsill, head turning toward the street, low afternoon sun from the left, shallow depth of field produces a shot. API & Integration
How teams wire Kling into real systems, and what to plan for.
Pick a model version, send a text prompt or reference image, set duration and aspect ratio, poll the returned task until it reports success, then download the video from the URL you get back. That four-step shape — prompt, model, render, retrieve — holds across every vendor mirroring the Kling models, and the tool on this site mirrors its front half.
Expect a prompt, an optional negative prompt, an optional reference image, a model version, a mode (standard or professional), a duration in seconds and an aspect ratio. Motion-control and reference features add their own fields on the versions that support them. Names differ slightly between resellers, so read the specific documentation you are integrating against.
Standard mode typically completes in about 30 seconds and professional mode in about 60, varying with clip length and scene complexity. Queue time under load can dwarf render time, which is why the API is asynchronous — design your integration around a job that finishes later, not a request that blocks.
Not necessarily. Automation platforms that can make an HTTP request, wait, and make a second one can drive the whole Kling flow from a spreadsheet or a form. You still need to understand polling: a no-code step that fires once and reads the immediate response will only ever see processing.
Limits are set by whoever operates the endpoint, so treat them as a property of your vendor rather than of Kling itself. Build in exponential backoff on polling, a ceiling on total wait time, and a retry path for failed tasks. A batch of fifty renders will always contain one that needs a second attempt.
No. We publish Kling explanations, comparisons and prompt craft — not endpoints, keys or SDKs. For the exact request schema, go to the documentation of the provider you intend to call. Anyone offering you a free Kling API key outside of an official channel is worth being suspicious of.

No, and we say so on every page. Kling is a trademark of its respective owner, and we use the name only to describe the subject we document. Nothing on this site should be read as an official statement from Kling AI or Kuaishou.
That depends entirely on the terms of the service that rendered the clip, so read the licence before shipping anything client-facing. Separately, some jurisdictions require AI-generated media to be labelled. Frames generated by the free tool on this site carry no watermark and no rights claim from us.
Yes, on every serious platform. Requests involving real people's likenesses, explicit material, violence or recognisable protected characters are commonly refused, and the exact boundary differs by vendor. Our generator applies its own safety filtering and will simply decline rather than produce something questionable.
Specifications on this page were reviewed in August 2026 against publicly documented Kling figures. The Kling model line moves fast — a new version can change durations or audio behaviour within weeks — so treat any number here as a snapshot and confirm against the provider before you commit engineering time.
